Paid Participation in Research Studies

We have a wide range of research groups who are often looking for people to participate in experiments. This usually involves coming in to the School to take part during normal working hours, although occasionally out-of-hours opportunities are available.

We pay for participation at the rate of £3 per half hour (or part thereof).

Some research requires particular age groups or other characteristics. When you first sign up you will be asked to complete a short questionaire. This ensures that you are only offered opportunities where you match the researcher's requirements.

To sign up for paid participation you need to have a valid email address. Once your request is approved you will recieve an email and you can then log in. The system will have emailed you a random password. It is recommended that you go to "My Profile" and change it to something you will remember. To see available studies which match your profile there is a link under "Study Sign-Up"

Occasionally you will recieve emails alerting you to new studies which are recruiting, but it is always worth logging in to see what timeslots are available for existing studies.

All of your personal information is treated confidentially and is only used by researchers within the Plymouth School of Psychology to recruit participants. No information is passed to any third party.

The Plymouth BabyLab within the School runs a separate recruitment system for parents with young children to help with their research. You can sign up as a parent or carer on the BabyLab website by clicking the logo on the right.
